Driving in Estonia: Essential Rules

Estonia is an easy, orderly country to drive — traffic is light by European standards, the main roads are well maintained, and a hire car turns the whole country into a long weekend: Lahemaa's forests and manor houses, the university town of Tartu, the west coast, and the islands of Saaremaa and Hiiumaa all sit within a few hours of Tallinn. The rules are strict in two specific areas — alcohol and lights — and winter is a season to take seriously.
