• Opening hours: Opening hours for the Surprice branch are not published on the listings checked. Confirm the hours for your date in your booking confirmation, particularly for an evening arrival after a flight.
• Reaching the town: Torrevieja is about 50 km from Alicante and about 60 km from Murcia, and both Alicante Airport (ALC) and Region of Murcia International Airport (RMU) are roughly 40 minutes away by road. If you land at either, confirm with your supplier whether the car can be collected at the airport.
• What to bring: The main driver should carry a valid driving licence, a passport or photo identification, your booking details and a credit card in their own name with a limit high enough to cover the excess hold. Whether an International Driving Permit is needed depends on where your licence was issued.

Pick-Up, Drop-Off, and Refuelling at Torrevieja Downtown

Within the town, ES Combustibles Torrevieja on Avenida de las Cortes Valencianas is listed daily from 06:00 to 22:00, and CRED Ozone Torrevieja on the CV-905 at km 101 daily from 07:00 to 22:00. Confirm the fuel type on your booking confirmation first.
• Parking in the centre: The underground car park beneath Paseo Vista Alegre has a 2.10 m height limit, and the Paseo del Mar car parks are listed with 575 spaces. A new public car park between Avenida de la Estación, Calle Ciudad de Barcelona, Camino del Acequión and the N-332 opened on 1 August 2026.
• Roof boxes and larger cars: The port areas behind Paseo Vista Alegre are listed with space for high-topped vehicles, which suits a larger people carrier that will not fit under the garage limit.
• Low emission zone: The zone covers the urban centre and seafront, around Calle Ramón Gallud and Paseo Vistalegre. In 2026 it is in an information phase with no fines, and one listing gives 1 January 2027 as the start of enforcement, with a fine of 200 euros. Check that your hire car carries its environmental label if you hire after that date.
• Before you drive away: Complete the vehicle condition report at collection, and photograph the car on all four sides, the wheels, the windscreen and the interior. Repeat it at return so that any mark is recorded on both occasions.

Getting from Torrevieja Downtown to Key Destinations

• Alicante — about 50 km north by the AP-7 or the N-332, in roughly 40 minutes to Alicante Airport. The N-332 is toll-free but congested in July and August, with the worst stretch between the CV-905 and the CV-95.
• Orihuela — about 32 km inland, in roughly 35 minutes. The Cathedral, the Palmeral de San Antón and the castle climb are in the old town, so leave the car outside the historic centre and walk.
• La Zenia Boulevard and Orihuela Costa — reached from the AP-7 at exit 763 or by the Orihuela Costa Town Hall exit. The open-air centre opens from 10 am to 10 pm, and until 11 pm in July and August.
• Cartagena — about 50 km south, in roughly 45 minutes. The port car park on Paseo de Alfonso XII is the closest to the Roman Theatre Museum, with a 2 m height limit.
• Murcia — about 60 to 70 km west, in roughly 55 minutes. Allow a half day, and use a car park at the edge of the centre.
